Saved by the bell. Means to be saved at the last moment. Refers to school, when a teacher may ask a tough question that a student doesn’t know the answer, when the bell rings the class is over so you don’t need to answer the question. We use this often for many different situations where we are suddenly saved.

My thoughts on the week ahead:
While it has been a relatively good year in Japan it appears that more trouble is ahead with many bad news articles showing that Japan’s continued closed doors and a growing lack of interest from youth to start new business, travel abroad or innovate is worrisome. ATC English, both Colin and Takao hope to help Japanese understand that the outside world can offer amazing opportunities, and one way to do this effectively is to learn English, if only to build your own domestic business internationally, keeping jobs and prosperity here by reaching new markets. Additionally there are so many amazing opportunities with English, where you can learn about international people, cultures and share what it means to be Japanese.
